Ruin and Oblivion

After a year in 2013 and four albums made for three different labels (Eg0cide Productions, Batenim, Textural Records), Morphine Bandit is back for his first release in 2014. This release is quite short compared to previous ones but contains three tracks very different in terms of atmosphere and style that sweep the sonic possibilities of Morphine Bandit. So what is this new album about ? Singing mystical sirens lost in a modern city, stretched notes mingling with the sound of distant bells punctuating the course of a forgotten meaning ceremony, unreal languages pronounced in a fall night, echoes of monolithic machineries coming from beyond the horizon…

Morphine Bandit is a project headed by a mysterious man/machine connexion. His purpose is to reach an altered state of consciouness and /or exstatic feelings by means of electronic dronescapes. "The subtle shift theory" is a direct reference to the way Morphine Bandit produces music. It starts with repetitive, hypnotic drone pads with sounds elements and noisy touches that evolve subtly and immerse the listener in an altered state (according to its mental state just before the listening experience).

[Eg0_086] Morphine Bandit : Shamanic Anesthesia

Morphine Bandit is back on Eg0cide with a new set of minimalist droney soundscapes. Shamanic Anesthesia‘s icy lines slowly draw subtle harmonic structures that envelopp the listener in a paradoxically cozy coat of sonic snow…

[Eg0_051] Morphine Bandit : Inside the steel dome

Inside the steel dome is the 2nd release by Morphine Bandit, a promising experimental drone project offering us subtle constructions and surgical cold sounds.

"This full-on minimalist assault for the ears is well worth a listen. You are treated to dark textures crawling across the muddy ground, dragging electronic pulses and swells behind them as it all unfolds into a bleak landscape of sound. The sprawling drones feel like they could extend forever, touching the furthest reaches of our perception. All of the sounds blend into each other in a seamless connection, a conjoined bridge between life and death. Drones and quivering shrieks echo around you in a stifling metallic fashion. They spin about and screech ever so slightly, like catching a radio signal in a metal bowl. This release is a morose enlightenment plunging you into a deep sensory deprivation. You see patterns of grey and dark emotions wash over, sweeping through the crevices in your brain. You feel ready to descend deep into the junkyards of the human wasteland, lost forever. Morphine Bandit-- Wave Motions EP [treetrunk 185]

This EP has been created with a special unique device which consists of a mix of electronic sounds manipulations and human gestures. The result is 4 drones with classical sweeping frequencies, endless reverberations and subtle elements in the background emitting extreme minimal pulsations.
